Atiku Gives Tinubu Seven-Day Ultimatum to Order Independent Probe

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has given President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a seven-day ultimatum to order an independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Atiku made the demand in a statement released on Friday, said the allegations surrounding the council have raised serious questions about transparency and accountability and also added that Nigerians deserve clear answers from the government.

According to Atiku, the President should set up a transparent and independent panel to investigate the matter. He argued that only a credible inquiry can restore public trust in government institutions.

Furthermore, the former vice president said the findings of the investigation should be made public, stressed that openness is necessary to strengthen confidence in the country’s democratic institutions.

Atiku warned that the Presidency has seven days to announce the investigation, otherwise, he said many Nigerians could see the government’s silence as a refusal to address the allegations.

Th former Vice president maintained that the probe must be free from political influence, the panel should consist of respected individuals with proven integrity, the ADC presidential candidate also said fighting corruption requires fairness and accountability. He noted that no individual or institution should be above scrutiny.

Moreover, Atiku argued that a transparent investigation would show the government’s commitment to the rule of law and responsible governance. The call adds to growing pressure on the Tinubu administration from opposition leaders seeking greater transparency in public affairs.

However, as of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not issued an official response to Atiku’s seven-day ultimatum or his demand for an independent investigation into the PFIPC controversy.

In a statement released on Friday, Atiku said the allegations linked to the PFIPC have raised serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and the integrity of government institutions, the argued that the claims, if left unaddressed, could further erode public confidence in the administration.

The former vice president urged President Tinubu to immediately establish an independent panel to investigate the matter and ensure that the findings are made public.

According to him, only a credible and impartial probe can restore trust and demonstrate the government’s commitment to accountability.

Atiku warned that failure to act within seven days would reinforce public perceptions that the administration is unwilling to confront allegations of misconduct involving public institutions.

“The Nigerian people deserve answers, not silence,” Atiku stated, adding that the investigation must be free from political interference and conducted by individuals with unquestionable integrity.

He stressed that combating corruption and promoting good governance require consistent adherence to the rule of law, regardless of the individuals or institutions involved.

The development adds to growing political pressure on the Tinubu administration, as opposition figures continue to demand greater transparency in the management of public affairs.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not issued an official response to Atiku’s ultimatum or his call for an independent investigation into the PFIPC controversy.
