The Federal Government has commenced the rollout of the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System, a nationwide initiative that will assign a unique digital postcode to every home in Nigeria.

Dada Olusegun announced the development on Friday in a post on social media.

He said the rollout has already begun and forms part of the government’s efforts to modernise Nigeria’s national addressing system.

According to him, every residential property in the country will receive a unique digital postcode under the new initiative.

Olusegun said the system will create a smarter, more secure and digitally enabled addressing framework across Nigeria.

He explained that the initiative will improve public service delivery, strengthen emergency response and support economic growth.

He added that the digital postcode system will also help improve location accuracy for businesses, logistics companies, security agencies and emergency responders.

According to him, the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s economic reform agenda.

He said the administration remains committed to modernising key sectors of the economy as part of its target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

The rollout is expected to provide every Nigerian home with a standardised digital address, making it easier to identify properties and improve access to public and private services nationwide.
