Robert Lewandowski will begin a new chapter in his illustrious career after agreeing to join Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Chicago Fire on a two-year contract.
The player is expected to complete the move by signing his deal early next week after a successful visit to the club and the city.
The move brings an end to one of Europe’s greatest football careers. Over the years, Lewandowski established himself as one of the game’s most prolific goalscorers through successful spells at Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.
At the early stages of his career, he won two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund under Jürgen Klopp. He then joined Bayern Munich in 2014 and reached even greater heights.
During his time in Bayern, he won eight consecutive Bundesliga titles. He also lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy and broke the league’s single-season scoring record with 41 goals.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona in 2022 and made an immediate impact. He helped the club win La Liga in his first season and finished as the league’s top scorer.
Throughout his career, he has scored more than 700 goals for club and country.
The veteran striker also holds legendary status in Poland, he is the country’s all-time leading goalscorer and most-capped player, as captain, he led Poland at several FIFA World Cups and UEFA European Championships.
Chicago Fire now adds one of football’s greatest forward to their squad, a player who brings elite finishing, leadership, and vast experience.
His arrival ranks among the biggest signings in MLS history and could transform the club’s ambitions both on and off the pitch.
