Wike Closes FCT Secretariat Over Federal Houses

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The FCT Administration announced the decision on Wednesday, the Senior Special Assistant to Wike on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, issued the statement.According to the statement, Wike directed officials to close the secretariat with immediate effect.

The minister also approved a new division within the Department of Land Administration. The division will handle the sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.

New Division Takes Over Sales

The new division will take over the duties of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee.The committee previously handled issues linked to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.Its secretariat remained open after the committee completed its main assignment.

Officials kept it open to deal with matters from the committee’s work.Wike has now ended that arrangement.The Department of Land Administration will handle all matters linked to the sale of Federal Government Houses. Members of the public should now direct their questions to the department.The FCT Administration said the move will also provide a clear channel for people seeking information about the government houses.

FCT Warns Against Fraud

The administration also warned residents about possible fraud.Officials urged members of the public to avoid anyone who claims to work for the dissolved committee or its former secretariat.Fraudsters may use the names of former committee members or staff to deceive residents.

They may also ask people to make payments for houses or other services.The FCT Administration stressed that the committee and its secretariat no longer exist.Residents should therefore verify all property offers and payment requests through the Department of Land Administration.The warning is important for people who plan to buy Federal Government Houses in the FCT. Members of the public should confirm any information before making payments or signing documents.

Wike Changes Management Structure

The closure marks a change in how the FCT will manage the sale of Federal Government Houses.The administration will no longer use the special committee for the process. Instead, a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration will handle the work.The new structure gives residents a direct point of contact for issues concerning government houses.
