Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims during an operation in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims, comprising six males and eight females, were rescued after troops responded to credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists with kidnapped victims around Madaci Forest.
According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA mobilised to the area on August 18, 2026, after receiving the information.
The troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them, forcing the attackers to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.
A subsequent search of the area led to the successful rescue of all 14 victims.

Preliminary information indicated that the victims were abducted from different locations within the Dandume, Bakori and Funtua areas of Katsina State.
The rescued victims were later handed over to the appropriate local authorities for necessary action and reunification with their families.
The Joint Task Force said the successful operation demonstrated the responsiveness and determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to protect lives and prevent terrorists from carrying out criminal activities across the North West.
The Theatre Command also assured residents that troops would continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and intensify operations to safeguard communities across the region.
It urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
