French club Lille OSC have announced the appointment of Davide Ancelotti as their new head coach, following the departure of Bruno Genesio last week.
The 36-year-old Italian has signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 side and will take charge ahead of the 2026–27 season. Lille did not confirm whether Ancelotti will immediately leave his role as an assistant coach with the Brazil national football team, where he currently works alongside his father, Carlo Ancelotti.
Speaking after his appointment, Davide Ancelotti expressed his excitement about the opportunity.
“I’m very proud and happy. It’s an honor to represent Lille,” he said.
“They are a serious, ambitious and competitive club that regularly competes in European football.”
The former AC Milan Academy product begins his second spell as a head coach after a brief six-month stint with Brazilian club Botafogo last year.
Lille secured qualification for next season’s Champions League after finishing third in Ligue 1, ending the campaign 15 points behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Ancelotti now faces the challenge of building on Lille’s recent success as the club prepares for a demanding domestic and European campaign. The new Ligue 1 season is scheduled to begin on the weekend of August 22–23.
The appointment marks another significant step in Davide Ancelotti’s coaching career as he looks to establish himself independently of his father’s celebrated managerial legacy.
