Families of the Borno abducted children have renewed their appeal to the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of their loved ones. Their call follows the successful rescue of all the remaining pupils and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State on the same day.

The parents said the Oyo rescue has given them hope. However, they expressed concern that their children remain in captivity nearly two months after the abduction.

The families urged the Federal Government to deploy the same level of manpower, intelligence and coordination that secured the release of the Oyo victims.

According to the parents, every abducted child deserves equal attention, regardless of where the attack occurred. They appealed to the authorities not to allow the Borno children to be forgotten.

The parents also called on security agencies to intensify search-and-rescue operations and bring the children home safely.

Oyo Rescue Raises Hope

Security agencies rescued the remaining 44 pupils and teachers from Oyo State on Friday, July 10, after they spent 56 days in captivity.

The victims were among 46 people abducted when Boko Haram terrorists linked to the Ansaru faction attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026. The attackers killed one teacher during the raid and another while in captivity.

The Nigerian Army carried out the rescue with support from the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes. Security operatives tracked the kidnappers to the Old Oyo National Park before rescuing the victims.

President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde said the government paid no ransom. Troops also killed several terrorists and arrested eight suspected kidnappers during the operation. Some soldiers lost their lives in the rescue mission.

Families Await the Release of Borno Abducted Children

The parents said the success of the Oyo operation proves that determined and intelligence-driven operations can produce results. They urged the government to apply the same commitment to securing the freedom of the Borno abducted children.

They appealed to Nigerians to stand with them and keep the plight of the missing children in the national spotlight until they return home safely.

The families said they will continue to hope and pray for the safe return of every child still in captivity.
