The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, Gombe State, Barrister Sani Ahmed Haruna, has chaired the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting for August 2026.
The meeting brought together Local Government Chairmen, senior officials of the ministry and other key stakeholders to review financial matters concerning the state’s Local Government Councils.
In his remarks, the Commissioner stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, dedication and prudent management of Local Government resources.
He urged the Local Government Chairmen to remain committed to their responsibilities and ensure that available resources are properly and effectively utilised for the benefit of citizens across their respective areas.
Barrister Haruna, popularly known as Wakilin Arewa Gombe, also called on the Chairmen to prioritise projects and programmes that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of residents.
He particularly encouraged them to focus on basic services and community development initiatives capable of improving the welfare and living conditions of people at the grassroots.
The Commissioner further emphasised the need for proper documentation and adherence to established administrative and financial procedures.
He urged the Local Government authorities to maintain accurate records, comply with relevant regulations and work closely with appropriate government officials to strengthen service delivery and promote good governance.
The meeting also featured a review of financial matters relating to the Local Government Councils.
The Director of Treasury presented relevant financial details and provided explanations to members of the committee as part of the financial review.
The August JAAC meeting is part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen financial coordination between the state and Local Government Councils and ensure that public resources are managed responsibly.
The meeting was attended by all Local Government Chairmen, the Permanent Secretary, Director of Treasury, Directors of the Ministry and other key officials.
The Commissioner’s emphasis on accountability and effective resource management comes as Local Governments continue to play a critical role in delivering basic services and implementing community-level development programmes across Gombe State.
