Air Peace has warned passengers to expect temporary flight disruptions after one of its aircraft Airbus A320 aircraft sustained damage during a ground handling incident. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that safety remains its highest priority.
The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft had completed Flight P47427 from Kano and passengers on Tuesday night had safely disembarked, according to the airline.
“The ground handling equipment belonging to and operated by NAHCO tore into the aircraft and, as such, rendered the aircraft totally unserviceable.”
The affected aircraft had been scheduled to operate several domestic flights. As a result, some passengers may experience delays or changes to their travel plans. However, Air Peace said it is working to minimise the disruption across its network.
The airline confirmed that its engineers have started detailed inspections on the damaged aircraft. They will also carry out all necessary repairs before the aircraft returns to service.
Air Peace stressed that it will never operate an aircraft that fails to meet regulatory and safety standards. Instead, it will complete every required inspection before resuming normal operations.
Air Peace urged passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport. It also encouraged customers to follow its official communication channels for the latest travel updates.
In addition, the airline advised affected travelers to contact its customer service team if they need help with rescheduling or other travel arrangements.
Aircraft damage can affect an airline’s daily schedule because one aircraft often serves several routes. Consequently, airlines may adjust departure times or deploy replacement aircraft to reduce delays.
Air Peace said its operations team continues to work around the clock to restore normal flight schedules. The airline thanked passengers for their patience and understanding during the disruption. NAHCO was yet to respond as at press time, as messages and calls put across to the grand handlers publicist,
As Nigeria’s largest domestic airline, Air Peace reaffirmed its commitment to safe, reliable and efficient air travel. It said protecting passengers and crew will always remain more important than keeping flights on schedule.
