Nigeria’s security situation and national outlook are gradually improving under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa.
The minister made the remarks on Thursday in Abuja while speaking with journalists after the commissioning of the annex branch of Haam Legal Consult Services.
He said President Tinubu has continued to provide strong support for the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the fight against insecurity.
General Musa stated that the Federal Government has strengthened the military through increased support and collaboration with international partners.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Nigeria are working closely with American security agencies and allied nations to tackle terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats.
He noted that the military remains committed to protecting lives and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.
The Defence Minister urged Nigerians to support security agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
He stressed that national security cannot be achieved by the military alone.
According to Musa, criminal groups often survive because some individuals provide them with shelter, information, or logistical support.
“If all Nigerians decide today that there will be no more support for criminals, I can assure you that within one month, these security challenges would largely become things of the past,” he said.
Speaking on governance, General Musa emphasised the importance of electing credible and visionary leaders.
He warned against allowing individuals with criminal tendencies to occupy leadership positions in the country.
“We do not need criminal-minded individuals in leadership positions. We need leaders who genuinely have passion for this country and are committed to making the necessary changes Nigeria desires,” he stated.
The minister also encouraged Nigerians to participate actively in politics and support leaders focused on national development rather than ethnic or religious interests.
The Defence Minister cautioned citizens against vote-selling during elections.
According to him, compromising votes for personal gain could negatively affect the country’s future.
He urged Nigerians to prioritise competence, integrity, and patriotism when choosing political leaders.
Observers say concerns over vote-buying and political accountability continue to dominate discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the event, General Musa commended the young legal practitioners behind Haam Legal Consult Services.
He particularly praised Barrister Aliyu Anas, who also serves as Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence.
The minister highlighted the importance of law, justice, and human rights in building stable societies.
“A community that is respected is a community that obeys the law and respects the rights of others,” he said.
Earlier, the Head of Chambers at Haam Legal Consult Services, Barrister Abdulsalam Ibrahim, thanked the Defence Minister and other guests for attending the event.
He assured clients that the firm would uphold fairness, justice, and professionalism in its operations.
According to him, the firm provides legal services in areas such as property agreements, election matters, legal advisory, contract reviews, real estate, and Corporate Affairs Commission registration.
