The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has pledged his full commitment to the 2027 presidential campaign of the All Progressives Congress, APC, while reaffirming that national security remains his top priority.
Musa made the commitment after his appointment as Secretary I of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the minister expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him.
He described the appointment as a call to higher service and promised to carry out his responsibilities with diligence, administrative discipline and focus.
Musa also assured APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters across the country of his dedication to the party’s electoral campaign and its goal of securing victory in the 2027 election.
However, the minister stressed that his political assignment would not affect his constitutional responsibility as Minister of Defence.
He said safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of citizens remain absolute priorities.
“National security remains our highest imperative,” Musa said.
He added that ongoing military operations, strategic reforms and inter-agency collaboration within the defence sector would continue with greater commitment.
According to him, the Ministry of Defence remains focused on protecting Nigerians and supporting President Tinubu’s vision of a safe and prosperous country.
The minister also called on APC members and Nigerians to remain united behind the administration.
He expressed confidence that the APC would succeed at the polls while continuing to deliver on governance and national security.
