A significant step has been taken in Katsina State, with new initiatives aimed at tackling child malnutrition and improving access to life-saving care.

Two Stabilization Centres and 60 Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) sites have been launched across 12 Local Government Areas, including Baure and Daura.

The new facilities will provide free treatment, early detection, and essential nutrition services to children, especially in underserved communities.

The state has approved N700 million as counterpart funding under the ANRIN 2.0 programme, reinforcing efforts to combat malnutrition.

Authorities have warned that any diversion or sale of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) will attract strict legal consequences.

The initiative is backed by key partners such as UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières, alongside health workers and community leaders.

The programme aims to strengthen grassroots healthcare and ensure every child has a better chance at a healthy life.
