The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has responded to a multi vehicle road traffic crash reported along the University of Abuja Gate, Giri, on Monday, 20th July, 2026.
Following a distress alert, NEMA’s Emergency Response Bay located on Bill Clinton Drive, Abuja, immediately mobilized a response team to the scene.
The team was deployed under the direction of the Head of NEMA Abuja Operations Office, Pharm. Zakari Abubakar.
Upon arrival, NEMA personnel worked with other emergency responders to rescue victims, provide first aid, and coordinate evacuation efforts.
The operation involved collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and community volunteers.
The coordinated response helped manage the scene, support injured victims, and ensure the smooth evacuation of those affected by the crash.
As of the latest update, one person has been confirmed dead, while several injured victims received immediate medical attention at the scene before they were transported to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, for further treatment.
NEMA has commended the swift response of all agencies and volunteers involved in the rescue operation and continues to monitor developments from the incident.
