Khalid Barau Ningi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election, has said his decision to join politics was motivated by a desire to serve the people and address the challenges facing his community.
Speaking on his political journey, Ningi said leadership is fundamentally about service, stressing that public office is a trust that must be used for the benefit of the people rather than for personal enrichment.
“Leadership is all about service. Public office is a trust, and politics should be about community and humanitarian service, not personal enrichment,” he said.
According to him, the hardships experienced by many people in his constituency inspired him to become actively involved in politics and contribute to finding lasting solutions to poverty and other social challenges.
Ningi noted that while political slogans alone cannot significantly reduce poverty, effective policies and programmes can make a meaningful difference in the lives of citizens.
Reflecting on his time as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Bauchi State on Empowerment, he said one of his most significant achievements was developing a policy aimed at supporting women and girls through employment and empowerment initiatives.
He explained that the proposal was accepted by the Bauchi State Government and received executive approval, leading to the allocation of about N4 billion for its implementation.
According to him, the programme was designed to tackle poverty and improve economic opportunities for women and young girls across the state.
“The policy was welcomed by the governor and implemented successfully. Seeing it make a positive impact on the lives of people across Bauchi State remains one of my greatest rewards in public service,” he said.
Ningi expressed confidence that his experience in public service and commitment to grassroots development would position him to effectively represent the people of Ningi and Warji if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.
