The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has recorded ₦3.49 trillion in profit after tax between January and September 2026.
The figure reflects the company’s financial performance during the first nine months of the year. It follows a September profit of ₦509 billion.
NNPC also generated ₦4.61 trillion in revenue during September. The figures highlight its earnings from oil and gas operations.
According to its latest monthly financial report, NNPC recorded improved earnings in September.
Its revenue rose from ₦3.73 trillion in August to ₦4.61 trillion in September. Profit after tax also increased from ₦431 billion to ₦509 billion.
These figures show growth in the company’s monthly financial performance.
NNPC recorded average daily hydrocarbon production of 3.04 million barrels of oil equivalent in September.
This represents an increase from 3.01 million barrels recorded in August.
Crude oil and condensate production averaged 1.70 million barrels daily. Meanwhile, natural gas production stood at 7,789 million standard cubic feet per day.
The company attributed the production increase partly to the restart of the Obodo oil field in Oil Mining Lease 150.
The company also reported ₦11.14 trillion in statutory payments to the Federation Account between January and September 2026.
Meanwhile, upstream pipeline availability stood at 100 per cent in September.
However, petrol availability across NNPC retail outlets remained at 54 per cent.
Despite its financial performance, NNPC continues to face operational challenges.
The company identified equipment failures, pipeline leaks and facility downtime. Community protests and export infrastructure disruptions also affected operations.
NNPC says it is working to restore inactive wells and improve maintenance.
It also plans to strengthen community engagement and address infrastructure limitations.
The latest figures highlight the company’s financial contribution to Nigeria’s economy. However, improving production and ensuring reliable fuel supply remain important challenges for the national oil company.
