Aisha Yesufu has questioned the neutrality of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing it of partisanship.

Speaking amid rising political tensions, Yesufu said opposition parties are not in crisis as portrayed.

She argued that their strength lies in public support rather than the number of governors aligned with them.

According to her, the focus should be on why political actors who claim dominance still appear “afraid.”

Yesufu alleged that INEC has repeatedly demonstrated bias.

She claimed the Commission’s actions suggest alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She also criticised the interpretation of court rulings, insisting that the directive to maintain the “status quo ante bellum” had been misapplied.

The activist maintained that opposition groups are focused on engaging citizens.

She said they are not attempting to undermine other parties but are committed to democratic participation.

Her remarks come amid ongoing debates over INEC’s role and credibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.
