Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has released her much anticipated third studio album, ‘Starrgirl’. The 16 track project arrived on Friday, August 14, 2026, through Mavin Records and Republic Records.
The album marks a new chapter for the Grammy nominated singer. It follows her debut album, 19 & Dangerous, and her 2024 sophomore project, The Year I Turned 21. Mavin Records says the latter helped strengthen Starr’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading female pop stars.
‘Starrgirl’ brings together some major names from Nigeria and beyond. The album features Wizkid, Rema, ZAYN, Leon Thomas, KWN, Theodora and Danny Ocean.
Wizkid appears on ‘Gimme Dat’, while Rema features on ‘Who’s Dat Girl’. ZAYN joins Starr on ‘Heaven Baby’, while Leon Thomas appears on ‘Pressure’.
Other collaborations include ‘Amazing’ with KWN, ‘Ms. Paper’ with Theodora and a ‘Hot Body’ remix with Danny Ocean.
The new album explores several sounds. Reports describe the project as a mix of Afrobeats, R&B and pop with songs such as ‘Dance’, ‘Hot Body’ and ‘Dangerous’ bring an upbeat feel. Other tracks, including ‘Misunderstood’ and ‘Letter To God’, show a more reflective side of the singer.
The project also includes some of Starr’s recent releases, including ‘Where Do We Go’ and ‘Tornado’. ‘Starrgirl’ comes two years after The Year I Turned 21.
Mavin Records described that album as a coming of age project that explored growth, identity, love and heartbreak. The album also achieved major streaming milestones after its release, with ‘Starrgirl’, Ayra Starr moves into another stage of her career.
In an interview with ABC News before the release, she spoke about her growth as an artist and the new direction of the album.
The new album arrives as Ayra Starr continues to expand her audience outside Africa.
Her 2024 album became her first to enter the Billboard 200, while her hit song ‘Rush’ helped push her music to a wider global audience.
Earlier this year, she released ‘Where Do We Go’, followed by ‘Tornado’ ahead of the album.
Now, with ‘Starrgirl’, Ayra Starr is looking to build on that momentum and take her sound even further.
The 16-track album is now available on major streaming platforms.
