NiMet Forecast: Dust Haze, Thunderstorms to Affect Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has released its weather outlook for Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Moderate dust haze is expected over parts of the region.

Affected states include Borno, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Yobe, Jigawa, and Kano.

There are also chances of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Gombe, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba.

Later in the day, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over Adamawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Taraba.

Residents are advised to take precautions due to reduced visibility and air quality concerns.

The region will experience sunny conditions with patches of clouds in the morning.

There are slim chances of early thunderstorms in the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa and Benue.

Widespread thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected later in the day.

Outdoor activities should be planned early.

Widespread rainfall activity is expected across the region.

Morning conditions will be cloudy with sunshine intervals.

Thunderstorms are likely over Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Imo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

Rainfall is expected to intensify in the afternoon and evening.

Residents should prepare for wet roads, reduced visibility and possible localized flooding.

NiMet warns that dust haze may reduce visibility, especially in northern areas.

Individuals with respiratory conditions are advised to take precautions.

Strong winds may precede thunderstorms, so loose objects should be secured.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously due to slippery roads.

Airlines are encouraged to obtain airport-specific weather updates for safe operations.
