FG Secures Agréments for Ambassador-Designates

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced progress in the appointment of Nigeria’s ambassadors.

The ministry confirmed that agréments have been received from ten countries for ambassador-designates.

Countries that have granted approval include the United Kingdom and France.

Others are the United States, Ireland and Qatar.

African countries that have issued approvals include the Republic of Benin and Ethiopia.

Additional approvals were received from Djibouti, Senegal and Sierra Leone.

The ministry said responses from other countries are still being awaited.

Spokesperson Kimibie Ebienfa confirmed the development in a statement.

He said the process of securing diplomatic acceptance is progressing steadily.

The ministry added that the date for the induction ceremony will be announced later.

Officials said the ceremony will be confirmed by the Presidency before announcement.

The agrément process is a standard diplomatic requirement before ambassadors assume duty.
