Tinubu Reappoints Audi as NSCDC Commandant-General

Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Ahmed Abubakar Audi as Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The reappointment takes effect from Friday, February 27, 2026.

Dr Audi will serve a fresh five-year term. He was first appointed in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

His initial tenure ended last Friday. The renewal followed activities marking the 2026 World Civil Defence Day in Abuja.

President Tinubu charged Audi to strengthen the Corps’ role in national security.

He urged the NSCDC to support efforts against banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

The President also noted the need for stronger protection of critical national assets.

Dr Audi will officially resume duties on Monday.

Audi joined the NSCDC as a volunteer in 1996.

He completed basic officer training in 1997.

He served in several state commands across the country.

In 2007, he was promoted to Commandant.

He was later deployed to the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.
