A 24-year-old Graduate of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gombe State University, Pharmacist Aisha Bello Ali, popularly known as Nabeela, has made history as the highest graduating Pharmacy student since the programme began.

Aisha graduated with a record-breaking 4.88 CGPA, setting a new academic benchmark for the university’s Pharmacy programme.

The Gombe State indigene, with registration number UG19/PHPH/1013 earned six distinctions in Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Her exceptional academic performance earned her more than 20 academic awards. This achievement makes her one of the most decorated graduating students in the university’s history.

She also emerged as the Best Graduating Student of Set 7 in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In addition, the university recognised her as the Second Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Beyond academics, Aisha showed strong leadership skills. She served as the Ameera of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria chapter at Gombe State University.

She successfully balanced her leadership responsibilities with academic excellence.

In a phone interview with S24 correspondent, Aisha described her achievement as a moment filled with gratitude, disbelief, and joy.

“I felt an array of emotions graduating as the best student in my set: gratitude, disbelief, and joy. Above all, my heart is filled with gratitude to Allah SWT. Alhamdulillah,” she said.

Speaking on challenges during her academic journey, she said staying consistent was her greatest test.

“I had to cope with endless tests, lectures, and practicals while staying focused. There were days I felt like giving up, but I kept pushing. Alhamdulillah,” she said.

Aisha said studying Pharmacy was a dream she prayed deeply for.

“Studying Pharmacy felt like living an answered prayer. The journey was demanding, but I enjoyed learning and discovering new knowledge. The thought of becoming a pharmacist kept me going until graduation,” she added.

Aisha urged students and young Nigerians to stay focused and committed to their goals.

Quoting former US President Theodore Roosevelt, she said, “Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”

She encouraged young people to believe in themselves, pursue excellence, and keep developing themselves by stepping beyond their comfort zones.

Her achievement stands as a testament to hard work, discipline, and consistency. It also serves as an inspiration to students across Nigeria to pursue academic excellence.
