Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been formally presented with the 2025/26 Premier League Playmaker Award after finishing as the league’s top assist provider.
The award was confirmed following United’s 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the season, a match in which Fernandes also delivered a record-breaking performance.
Fernandes registered his 21st league assist of the campaign during the match, setting a new single-season Premier League record and moving past the long-standing benchmark shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
He capped the afternoon by scoring United’s third goal, taking his total goal contributions for the season to 30 (9 goals and 21 assists), underlining his influence in midfield.
The Portuguese midfielder also outperformed other leading creators across the league, finishing ahead of Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen in the assists chart.
The Playmaker honour adds to a highly decorated individual season for Fernandes, who has also been named Premier League Player of the Season after driving Manchester United to a strong league finish and Champions League qualification.
United officials described his campaign as one of the most productive by a midfielder in recent Premier League history, with his creativity central to the club’s attacking output throughout the season.
Fernandes’ award further cements his status as one of the standout performers of the 2025/26 campaign, as United close the season on a high under their current managerial setup.
