Guardiola gets emotional farewell as Man City era ends

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola received a touching farewell from fans on Sunday as his 10-year spell at the club came to an end.

Supporters stayed inside the Etihad Stadium long after City’s final game of the season. They sang Guardiola’s name and celebrated the success he brought to the club.

City lost 2-1 to Aston Villa, but the result was not the main focus of the day.

Fans honour Guardiola

The Etihad turned into a celebration for Guardiola. Fans displayed banners describing him as a “Game Changer” and “History Maker.”

Supporters also waved Catalan flags to honour Guardiola’s roots. Scarves carrying the words “Adios” and “Gracias” filled the stadium.

One fan held a sign thanking Guardiola for changing the club forever and saying things would “never be the same” after his departure.

Players and staff also paid tribute to the Spaniard. They formed a guard of honour while wearing shirts with Guardiola’s name on them.

Guardiola thanks supporters

Guardiola became emotional while speaking to the crowd after the match.

“I’m so nervous right now. Why do you love me so much?” he asked fans.

The Spaniard thanked supporters for standing by him throughout his decade at the club.

“I never imagined this amount of love,” Guardiola said. “It has been an incredible honour to be your manager for 10 years.”

End of a successful era

Guardiola leaves Manchester City after one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

This season, City won both the FA Cup and the League Cup. The team also pushed hard in the title race late in the campaign.

Despite the success, Guardiola admitted he no longer had the energy to continue for another season.

The 55-year-old looked calm and reflective during the match. He spent much of the game quietly watching from the touchline.

Guardiola’s legacy at City

Guardiola transformed Manchester City into one of Europe’s top clubs during his time in charge.

He won several major trophies and introduced an attacking style that changed English football.

His departure now marks the end of a memorable era for Manchester City fans.
