The Nigerian Air Force has inaugurated an in-house maintenance training programme on the Citation Sovereign 680 aircraft for 16 personnel in Abuja.
The eight-week programme began on February 23, 2026, for personnel of the 307 Executive Airlift Group.
At the inauguration, the Chief of Aircraft Engineering, Air Vice Marshal O.S. Ogunsina, stressed the importance of technical depth.

He said air power effectiveness depends on strong maintenance capacity, safety assurance, and sustained aircraft availability.
Ogunsina urged participants to approach the programme with discipline, focus, and professional commitment.
He described indigenous maintenance expertise as vital to fleet integrity and mission continuity.
The training aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
That philosophy prioritises standardised training, capability institutionalisation, and mission-focused force development.
By domesticating specialised maintenance skills, the NAF aims to reduce external technical dependence.
The initiative also supports cost efficiency and faster response for executive airlift missions.
Officials say the programme reflects investment in technical sovereignty and human capital development.
The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to operational excellence and sustainable air power projection.
