The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, campaigned for any government or political party.

The church said Adeboye has maintained a neutral position on partisan politics throughout his ministry.

RCCG issued the clarification in a statement on Tuesday. The statement responded to what the church described as false claims circulating online.

According to RCCG, Adeboye has never endorsed political candidates or campaigned for any administration.

Instead, he encourages Nigerians to participate in elections, urges church members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote according to their convictions.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye has always encouraged members of RCCG and Nigerians to exercise their civic responsibilities,” the church said.

RCCG also addressed claims that Adeboye called off a planned protest.

The church said the cleric merely communicated a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

According to RCCG, PFN instructed member churches to hold the grand finale of a three-day prayer programme at centralized venues and directed churches to organize rallies around those locations.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria,” the statement said.

RCCG added that PFN sent the directive to all churches under its umbrella.

The church also rejected claims that Adeboye remains silent on national challenges.

It said the cleric has repeatedly addressed insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, governance and elections and noted that Adeboye often speaks through sermons, prayers and counsel rather than partisan political engagement.

The church said critics wrongly interpret his non-partisan approach as silence.

RCCG expressed concern over what it described as repeated misinformation about its General Overseer.

“Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood,” the statement said.

The church said it would continue to challenge inaccurate reports and misleading narratives.

RCCG urged bloggers, commentators and media organizations to verify information through official church channels before publication.

The church advised the public to disregard claims that do not originate from its verified platforms.

“If a claim is not communicated, verified, or endorsed through RCCG’s official communication channels, it should not be regarded as an official position of the Church,” the statement said.

RCCG said Adeboye remains committed to national development, prayer and civic responsibility.

The church maintained that he has never used his position to campaign for any political party or government, and it reiterated that while Adeboye encourages democratic participation, he remains politically neutral and non-partisan.
