The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of mismanaging public resources over the alleged approval of gifts worth N315 million and the allocation of four plots of land to a Kano-based singer.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s Public Relations Officer, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, the PDP alleged that the state government approved N115 million for the purchase of a Coaster bus for the singer, alongside a cash grant of N200 million, bringing the total value of the alleged gifts to N315 million.
The opposition party described the alleged expenditure as “reckless” and questioned the government’s priorities at a time when Gombe State faces significant developmental challenges.
According to the PDP, the funds could have been invested in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
The party specifically argued that the N315 million could have supported interventions aimed at addressing the state’s out-of-school children crisis, which it said affects more than 787,000 children.
The PDP also alleged that the state government allocated four plots of land in the Shehu Abubakar District Layout to the same singer. It claimed the allocation was unfair, noting that many landowners in the area had their plots reduced during a recent government revocation exercise without compensation.
The opposition party called on the state government to provide a detailed explanation for the alleged allocation of public funds and land, insisting that transparency and accountability should guide the management of public resources.
“We call on the Gombe State Government to justify its action by providing the basis upon which these public resources and assets were allocated,” the statement said.
However, the Gombe State Government dismissed the allegations.
Speaking on the matter, the Director of Press Affairs at the Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, described the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
According to him, the government would not be drawn into responding to what it considers an attempt by the PDP to gain political relevance ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the allegations were a “wild goose chase” and accused the opposition of using propaganda to attract public attention.
As of the time of filing this report, the PDP has not publicly released documentary evidence to support its allegations, while the state government has maintained that the claims do not warrant an official response.
The development adds to the growing political exchanges between the ruling APC administration and the opposition PDP in Gombe State as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the next election cycle.
