Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised Lagos State for its role in driving economic growth and creating opportunities that have produced some of Nigeria’s most successful business leaders.
Speaking at an event in Lagos, Shettima said the state played a significant role in shaping the fortunes of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and Africa’s second-richest man, Abdulsamad Rabiu, founder of BUA Group.
According to the Vice President, Lagos provided the environment that enabled many of Nigeria’s leading entrepreneurs and influential figures to thrive.
“It was Lagos that gave Africa its richest man, not Kano. Aliko Dangote is a Lagos man. Again, it was not Kano but Lagos that gave Africa its second richest man, Abdulsamad Ishaq Rabiu (BUA). Lagos made almost everybody who is who in Nigeria,” Shettima stated.
The Vice President noted that Lagos remains Nigeria’s commercial hub and a major destination for businesses, investors and professionals seeking opportunities for growth and success.
He emphasized the importance of sustaining policies that promote enterprise, innovation and investment, adding that the city’s economic influence extends beyond Nigeria to the wider African continent.
Shettima’s remarks highlighted Lagos’ long-standing reputation as the country’s economic nerve centre and its contribution to the emergence of some of Africa’s most prominent business leaders.
