Nigerian rapper CDQ has shared a funny story about his first phone conversation with Afrobeats star Wizkid, recalling how he unknowingly hung up on the singer during a studio session around 2015.

Speaking during a street interview in London, CDQ said he received a call while Wizkid slept nearby in the studio.

The rapper did not immediately realize that the caller had a connection to Wizkid, so he ended the call before he understood what had happened.

CDQ later discovered that Wizkid had made the call, turning the awkward moment into the beginning of a friendship between both artistes.

Their relationship eventually produced collaborations, including the popular song “Nowo E Soke.”

The rapper laughed as he recalled the encounter and noted that even established artistes can lose their composure when they meet Wizkid for the first time.

His story reflects the level of influence and respect Wizkid commands among fellow performers.

Other artistes, including Qing Madi, have also spoken about their experiences with Wizkid and the encouragement they received from him.

Their stories continue to show how the singer’s presence can leave a strong impression on younger and established artistes across the African music scene.
