The Iran national football team will arrive in Mexico early Sunday as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team is still waiting for US visa approval.
Officials said the squad will leave Antalya at 15:20 (1220 GMT) on Saturday, June 6. They will travel to Tijuana and arrive at 01:30 local time (0730 GMT) on Sunday, June 7.
The team has trained in Antalya since May 18. They have remained in camp while visa procedures continue.
Iran is competing in Group G at the tournament. They will face New Zealand national football team and Belgium national football team in Los Angeles on June 15 and June 21. They will also meet Egypt national football team in Seattle on June 26.
Football federation chief Mehdi Taj said players expect to receive Mexican visas within days. He added that US visas should follow quickly. Officials have not confirmed whether approvals are complete.
Taj said the team will travel to Mexico through Spain. The squad originally planned to base in Tucson, Arizona. They later moved the base to Tijuana because of visa and security issues.
Iran will play Mali in a final warm-up match in Antalya on Thursday. The team beat Gambia 3–1 in a friendly on May 29.
