Labour Party governorship candidate for the 2027 Plateau State election, Nura Tanko Waziri, has welcomed the confirmation of his name by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the list of recognised candidates for the election.
Waziri expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, describing the development as a significant milestone and a renewed responsibility to the people of Plateau State.
In a statement issued by his Media and Publicity Office on Tuesday, the candidate thanked the leadership and members of the Labour Party, political stakeholders, traditional and religious leaders, women, youths, supporters and other well-wishers across the state for their prayers and support.
“I give all glory and gratitude to Almighty Allah for this important confirmation. I am deeply humbled by the recognition of my candidacy by INEC. This is not merely a personal milestone; it is a renewed responsibility to the people of Plateau State and a call to greater service,” Waziri said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to running an issue-based, peaceful and inclusive campaign focused on good governance, accountability, security, economic empowerment, human capital development, social inclusion and sustainable economic growth.
Waziri said the 2027 electoral process should provide an opportunity for constructive discussions about the challenges facing Plateau State and practical solutions that can improve the lives and livelihoods of residents.
He also urged his supporters, party members and political associates to conduct themselves with discipline and restraint while respecting democratic institutions and the rule of law.
According to him, the interests of Plateau State must remain above personal, sectional and political considerations, stressing that the contest should be defined by ideas, competence, character and commitment to public service.
“Our aspiration is about Plateau State and its people. We will continue to engage with citizens respectfully, present our vision responsibly and uphold the values of peace, justice, equity and democratic participation throughout the electoral process,” he said.
The Labour Party candidate further said his ambition was driven by a desire to contribute to the development of Plateau State and promote a governance model that places citizens at the centre of public policy and decision-making.
He called on residents across political, ethnic, religious and community lines to remain united in promoting peace, stability and sustainable development in the state.
Waziri concluded by thanking those who have supported his political journey and prayed for the wisdom, courage, humility and strength to serve the people with integrity and distinction.
