The management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has suspended two senior officials and the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President over allegations of extortion and misconduct.

The disciplinary action follows an internal investigation into complaints reportedly raised by students concerning alleged illegal financial demands and other unethical practices within the institution.

University authorities said the suspensions were necessary to allow for a thorough and unbiased investigation into the allegations. The affected officials have been directed to step aside pending the outcome of the probe.

In a statement issued by the university, management reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of students from all forms of exploitation.

The institution stressed that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards extortion and any conduct capable of undermining its academic integrity and reputation.

The suspension of the SUG president comes amid efforts by the university to strengthen oversight of student leadership activities and ensure that union officials operate within established regulations.

The university assured students, staff, and other stakeholders that the investigation would be conducted fairly and that anyone found culpable would face appropriate sanctions in line with institutional rules.

The development is the latest in a series of measures aimed at addressing complaints of misconduct and improving governance within the institution.

Management urged students to continue reporting cases of extortion, harassment, and other unethical practices through official channels, assuring them that all complaints would receive prompt attention.
