Former Senate President and National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, says education remains the greatest investment any nation can make for its future.
Mark made the remarks while delivering the keynote address at the 2026 Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony of Pace Setters College, Abuja.
The former senate President urged young Nigerians to embrace integrity, hard work and lifelong learning, saying success in today’s world depends on continuous self improvement and strong moral values.
According to Mark, academic qualifications alone can no longer guarantee success. He said the leaders of tomorrow must also possess integrity, critical thinking, adaptability, creativity and resilience.
Mark told the graduating students they are entering a world driven by technology, innovation and creativity, urging them to keep learning so they can remain competitive in a rapidly changing global economy.
He stressed that countries that have become global leaders achieved that status by making sustained investments in the knowledge, skills and creativity of their people rather than relying solely on natural resources.
Mark praised Pace Setters College for promoting academic excellence alongside moral discipline, noting that the true purpose of education is to develop ethical leaders and responsible citizens.
He encouraged graduates to remain curious, embrace innovation and continue developing new skills throughout their lives, saying lifelong learning is essential in an increasingly competitive world. David Mark’s remarks come as Nigeria continues to debate education funding, youth unemployment and skills development. His message highlights the importance of investing in people as a foundation for long term national growth and development.
