Chelsea FC have turned down several approaches for highly rated young defender Josh Acheampong, underlining the club’s long-term commitment to keeping hold of one of their most promising academy graduates.

The 20-year-old is viewed internally as a central figure in Chelsea’s future plans and has reportedly been granted “untouchable” status. That designation places him among a select group of players the club considers essential to its long-term project, alongside key figures such as Cole Palmer, João Pedro and Moises Caicedo.

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea’s firm stance is particularly striking given Acheampong’s relatively limited first-team experience. The England Under-21 international made 17 Premier League appearances last season, with nine coming from the bench, yet he remains highly valued for his potential and long-term development trajectory.

Interest in the defender is growing across the Premier League. Arsenal, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are all believed to be monitoring his situation closely. AFC Bournemouth have also maintained an interest after tracking him in a previous transfer window.

Despite the attention, Chelsea are in a strong negotiating position. Acheampong remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029, giving the club no immediate pressure to consider offers.

It is still unclear whether the defender is seeking more regular first-team opportunities elsewhere. However, Chelsea’s refusal to engage in negotiations signals strong belief in his development, with the club convinced he can become a key first-team player in the coming years.

For now, Chelsea’s message is unequivocal: Josh Acheampong is not for sale.
