Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua says he is stronger than ever as he prepares to return to the ring.
The British boxer will face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25. A victory could set up a long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury later this year.
Joshua Focused on Comeback
Joshua has not fought since December 2025. However, he says he feels ready for the challenge ahead.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 35-year-old expressed gratitude for the chance to compete again.
“I feel solid. This is where I want to be. I’m very grateful for this opportunity. It’s nice doing what I love,” Joshua said.
The former world champion also revealed that boxing helped him cope after losing two close friends in a car accident in Nigeria last year.
Stronger Mentally and Physically
Joshua believes he has grown both inside and outside the ring.
“I’m building myself up to be stronger than I’ve ever been. Not only physically, but mentally too. I’ve realised I’m a lot stronger than I ever thought I was,” he said.
The heavyweight star said his training has improved his confidence and focus.
Victory Remains the Main Goal
Reports suggest Joshua and Fury have agreed to a deal for a future fight. Despite the excitement, Joshua insists that winning remains his top priority.
“I’m not pleased because the pleasure comes after victory. Signing a contract doesn’t mean anything. Winning is the only true success,” he said.
Joshua added that he understands the challenges ahead and remains fully committed to his preparation.
“I’ve got a clear goal. I know what this year is about. I know how tough it will be. I’ve been training hard. That’s my life.”
Fury Plans Warm-Up Fight
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury plans to return to action on August 1 in Dublin. The fight will serve as preparation for an expected clash with Joshua in November.
If Joshua defeats Prenga, boxing fans could finally see one of the sport’s most anticipated heavyweight matchups take place later this year.
