Gombe Police Crack Down on Armed Robbery Gang

The Gombe State Police Command has successfully broken up a seven-man armed robbery syndicate operating in Pindiga District, Akko LGA.

Acting on credible intelligence, police arrested six suspects out of a seven-man gang linked to armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

From the suspects, law enforcement recovered: Pump action rifle, Locally made LAR rifle, 12 live 7.62mm rounds, 1 live cartridge, Cutlass, Cash (₦227,000)

The detained suspects are identified as:

Babangida Gamji (25), Dahiru Abdullahi (30), Ahmadu Garba (21), Umaru Bubba (25), Isah Haruna (20), Usman Abdullahi (30)

The seventh suspect, Alhaji Sale Adamu, remains at large.

In December 2025, Babangida and unknown accomplices attacked a victim at home, assaulting him with a rifle and cutlass and attempting to seize his motorcycle. The victim narrowly escaped.

After the attack, the suspects allegedly contacted the victim and demanded ₦650,000, threatening harm if he refused.

On January 29, 2026, detectives launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the main suspect and his accomplices.

DSP Buhari Abdullahi confirmed the arrests and evidence recovery, while the Gombe State Commissioner of Police praised officers and reassured the public of continued security efforts.
