Police Uncover Illegal Gun Factory, Arrest Suspects in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has uncovered an illegal firearms fabrication workshop in Potiskum and arrested seven suspected gunmakers.

Police operatives carried out the operation after receiving credible intelligence about illegal firearm production activities in the area.

The raid took place at a blacksmith workshop located in Tasha Adua along Danchuwa Road in Potiskum Local Government Area.

Authorities arrested seven suspects believed to be involved in the illegal fabrication of firearms during the operation.

Security operatives recovered two fabricated pistols, 24 muzzle pipes, nine gun butts, and four unserviceable Dane guns.

Police also seized a filing machine and a cutlass believed to have been used in the fabrication process.

Investigators are working to identify buyers, accomplices, and the intended use of the recovered weapons.

The Commissioner of Police has directed an expanded investigation to uncover other illegal firearms production centres across the state.

Police have called on residents to remain vigilant and provide information that could help prevent criminal activities.

The operation highlights ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat crime and curb the spread of illegal firearms in Yobe State.
