The Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed reports suggesting that an explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo on Tuesday involved a bomb or a helicopter attack, confirming instead that the incident was caused by overheated gas cylinders connected to air-conditioning and refrigeration units.

Police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman Anisma, said in a statement that preliminary investigations conducted by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit, alongside the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team, found no evidence of explosives, aerial involvement, or casualties.

According to the police, the explosion was triggered by an inferno resulting from overheated gas cylinders on the hospital premises, leading to structural damage but no loss of life.
