Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed deep concern over the rising wave of insecurity across the country, calling on the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action to halt the worsening situation.

In a statement on Wednesday, Kwankwaso described the recent abductions and killings in several states as alarming, noting that the kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State signals a disturbing resurgence of attacks on educational institutions.

He also condemned the killing of Brigadier-General M. Uba by terrorists in Borno State, describing it as “one of the darkest moments in our nation’s fight against terrorism.” He said the incident represents a major intelligence and operational failure and demanded a thorough investigation.

Kwankwaso further lamented the mass kidnappings in Zamfara State, urging security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and prevent further assaults on vulnerable communities.

He also raised concerns over renewed bandit attacks in Shanono and Ghari Local Government Areas of Kano State. While commending the swift response of the Kano State Government, including the provision of operational vehicles to security agencies, he stressed that the Federal Government must urgently strengthen national security architecture.

“These incidents are not isolated; they reveal serious setbacks in the battle against insecurity,” he said, adding that the armed forces and the Nigeria Police Force must be reinforced and equipped to protect citizens effectively.

Kwankwaso urged the government to “reinvigorate the security services” and adopt a more coordinated and proactive approach to tackling terror attacks, kidnappings, and banditry across the country.
