BUK Mourns as Prof Jega Loses Wife

The family of former Vice-Chancellor and respected academic, Attahiru Jega, has announced the passing of his wife.

The family expressed total submission to the will of Allah, describing the loss as a deeply painful moment for loved ones and associates.

Her Janazah (funeral prayer) is scheduled to take place immediately after the Zuhr prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Family, friends, and well-wishers are expected to gather to pray for her soul.

Prayers have been offered for Allah to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, forgive her shortcomings, and give strength and patience to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

Professor Jega, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is widely respected for his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic and academic development.
