The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, OON, has applauded the leadership of the Prison Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), FCT Chapter, for its extensive reintegration programmes aimed at rehabilitating offenders and reconciling victims of crimes.

Bello gave the commendation on Tuesday while receiving the Executive Members of the Fellowship during a courtesy visit to the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.

She described the Fellowship’s efforts as a vital contribution to national rehabilitation and justice reform, particularly in restoring dignity and hope to ex-offenders while promoting social harmony through victim-offender reconciliation.

While assuring the Fellowship of NAPTIP’s readiness to collaborate on any victim-centered initiatives, the Director General urged the organisation to expand its psychosocial advocacy, enlightenment, and rehabilitation programmes to cover victims of human trafficking and gender-based violence.

She emphasized that extending such support would help reduce vulnerability among victims and strengthen community resilience against exploitation and abuse.

In her remarks, Bello stated, “Your work aligns with NAPTIP’s core mandate of protecting the vulnerable and ensuring justice for victims. Rehabilitation and reintegration are key to building a just and humane society. We are open to partnerships that can further amplify these objectives.”

Earlier, the Chairman of the PFN FCT Chapter, Mr. Adegbaye Olalekan, briefed the NAPTIP boss on the Fellowship’s ongoing programmes focused on prison outreach, offender rehabilitation, and community reintegration.

He also sought the Agency’s support and collaboration in advancing their shared objectives of promoting justice, healing, and societal reintegration.

The courtesy visit, according to both parties, marks the beginning of a stronger partnership between NAPTIP and the Prison Fellowship of Nigeria toward addressing crime, supporting victims, and fostering a safer, more inclusive society.
