Former Kano State governor and NNPP leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has dismissed allegations linking him to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing those spreading the claims as “fools.”
Kwankwaso made the remark while reacting to allegations by Kano State Government spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who claimed the former presidential candidate was secretly working for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The former governor denied any hidden political alliance with the ruling APC, insisting that his political decisions are guided by the interests of Nigerians and not personal arrangements with the presidency.
The controversy followed comments by Bature during an interview on ARISE News, where he alleged that Kwankwaso’s recent political moves and consultations could eventually favour Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Bature also questioned the viability of any proposed alliance between Kwankwaso and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, arguing that such a coalition would not survive politically in Kano State.
Kwankwaso’s response has further intensified political debates ahead of the 2027 elections, especially amid growing speculations about possible opposition coalitions and realignments across major political parties.
The NNPP chieftain remains one of the influential political figures in northern Nigeria, with analysts closely watching his next political move as preparations for 2027 gradually gather momentum.
