PS Charges Directors to Lead With Discipline

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to integrity, accountability, and disciplined leadership.

He made this known during a High-Level Management Meeting held at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja, where he charged Directors and Heads of Departments to embody exemplary leadership rooted in compassion and responsibility.

Mr. Enitan emphasized that true leadership goes beyond authority and is best demonstrated through conduct and character. “What you do, they watch; what you don’t do, they notice,” he stated, underscoring the importance of leading by example as the foundation of a disciplined and efficient civil service.

The Permanent Secretary cautioned against unauthorized travel or assignments, stressing the need for strict adherence to administrative procedures. He further commended departments that show concern for staff welfare during milestones and emergencies, describing such compassion as “the heartbeat of a healthy and productive public service.”

Highlighting the importance of internal communication, Mr. Enitan encouraged regular departmental meetings to strengthen trust, improve coordination, and promote effective problem-solving within teams.

He also directed all departments to develop clear work plans with defined timelines to enhance operational efficiency and accountability.

Reiterating that accountability begins at the top, Mr. Enitan noted that the behavior of senior officers directly influences the culture of the Ministry. He urged all Directors to uphold the Ministry’s core values of integrity, teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
