Terra Industries first raised US$11.75 million in January in a round led by US venture capital firm 8VC, founded by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale.

The company raised another US$22 million in February before securing the latest US$18 million.

Existing investors, including 8VC, Silent Ventures, Nova Global, Belief Capital and SV Angel, took part in the latest round. New investor Norleo Space Investments and angel investor Grant Gordon also joined the funding round.

Terra Industries plans to use the new funding to open its first international office in London and increase its manufacturing capacity. The company also plans to accelerate deployments across the Global South while expanding its engineering, operations and business development teams. Its manufacturing operations will remain in Africa, while the company plans further expansion into the Gulf, South America and South Asia.

Terra says its London office will give it closer access to global defence and infrastructure institutions, as well as AI and operations talent. Speaking on the funding, Terra Industries co-founder and CEO Nathan Nwachuku said critical infrastructure in the Global South needs security systems designed specifically for its operating environment.

He said the new funding would allow the company to expand its manufacturing base and strengthen its position in the global defence industry.

Terra Industries’ latest funding highlights growing investor interest in African defence technology and autonomous security systems.   The company is also positioning itself beyond Nigeria, with plans to build security technologies for critical infrastructure across emerging markets.
