Army Commander Visits Sokoto, Pledges Action Against Terrorists

The General Officer Commanding, 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, has visited Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The visit followed renewed security concerns linked to the Lakurawa terrorist group.

Koughna visited the area to assess the security situation and review the readiness of troops deployed to protect residents.

He also visited the Forward Operating Base in Kebbe and nearby communities.

During the visit, Koughna met with community leaders and residents.

He listened to their concerns and reviewed the security challenges facing the area.

The Army commander assured residents that troops were ready to respond to any terrorist threat.

He said the Army had strengthened its security measures to prevent terrorists from gaining access to the communities.

Koughna also assured residents that troops would continue to protect lives and property.

He urged residents not to panic, saying security personnel were working to keep the area safe.

The Army commander called on residents to support security agencies by providing useful information.

He urged community leaders to report suspicious movements and activities to the authorities.

According to him, timely information from residents can help security forces prevent attacks and stop terrorists from operating freely.

Koughna said the Army would continue to maintain a strong presence in the area.

He also promised that troops would remain alert and ready to respond to threats.

The visit is part of efforts by the Nigerian Army to improve security in Kebbe and other vulnerable communities in Sokoto State.
