Nigerian Afrobeats star, Bella Shmurda has alleged that he lost $4 million in what he described as a fraudulent property transaction in Lagos, leaving him devastated and seeking legal redress.

The singer, whose real name is Abiola Akinbiyi, made the allegation during an emotional Instagram Live session, where he broke down in tears while appealing for help.

According to Bella Shmurda, he paid $4 million for a property in Lagos before discovering that the seller allegedly did not own the property. He claimed the land or house had been stolen and sold to him without the rightful owner’s consent.

“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property,” the singer said during the livestream.

The singer further alleged that the individual who sold him the property disappeared after collecting the money, making it difficult to recover the funds.

The visibly emotional artiste said the money represented years of hard work and sacrifice.

He disclosed that he had already contacted his lawyer to investigate the transaction and pursue legal action.

However, Bella Shmurda did not reveal the identity of the alleged seller or provide further details about the property involved. As of the time of filing this report, the allegations remain unproven, and no official response has been issued by the person or persons allegedly involved.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the persistent problem of real estate fraud in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria. Authorities have repeatedly warned prospective buyers to verify property ownership, conduct thorough title searches, and use licensed legal practitioners before completing land or property transactions. Earlier this year, the Lagos State Government announced that it had recovered hundreds of millions of naira for victims of fraudulent estate transactions through regulatory intervention.
