TikTok removed more than 12 million videos in Sub-Saharan Africa during the fourth quarter of 2025 as it stepped up efforts to enforce its Community Guidelines and improve online safety.
The company disclosed the figures in its Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, which outlines its global content moderation activities and safety measures.
Keagile Makgoba said the report reflects TikTok’s commitment to transparency, safety and inclusivity.
She said the company publishes the report every quarter to show how it enforces its Community Guidelines and builds trust among users.
According to the report, TikTok removed more than 175 million videos worldwide during the quarter.
The platform also deleted more than 218 million comments for violating its Community Guidelines.
Makgoba said 45 per cent of the removed comments involved harassment and bullying, which breached TikTok’s Safety and Civility policy.
She explained that TikTok uses advanced technology alongside thousands of trust and safety professionals to detect, review and remove harmful content.
According to her, the company has invested more than 2 billion dollars in trust and safety efforts since 2025.
Makgoba added that TikTok now moderates content in more than 70 languages.
She said the platform also supports local African languages, including Hausa, through specialised moderation systems and keyword detection tools.
The company said its moderation teams actively identify and remove misinformation, harmful content and posts that promote violence.
It added that its systems remove most violating content before users report it.
Makgoba encouraged users to help keep the platform safe by reporting content and accounts that violate TikTok’s rules.
She said community participation remains an important part of the company’s safety strategy.
TikTok reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its moderation systems while promoting a safe and inclusive online community.
