Real Madrid Complete Marc Cucurella Signing from Chelsea

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal worth a reported €55 million ($63.8 million).

The Spanish club announced the transfer on Monday. Cucurella has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2032.

In an official statement, Real Madrid confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Chelsea for the defender’s transfer.

Cucurella, 27, joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022. He spent three seasons in England and became an important player for the London club.

Before moving to the Premier League, the left-back developed through Barcelona’s youth academy. He also played for Getafe in La Liga.

The defender is currently with Spain at the FIFA World Cup. He is the only Real Madrid player in coach Luis de la Fuente’s squad.

Real Madrid continue to strengthen their team ahead of the new season. The club recently appointed Jose Mourinho as head coach after two seasons without a major trophy.

Club president Florentino Perez, who won re-election earlier this month, has backed Mourinho’s plans with the signing of Cucurella.

Madrid hope the experienced defender will add quality and depth to their back line as they aim to compete for major honours again.
