Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added another academic achievement to his career after graduating from the PFA Business School with merit.
The Coventry City forward completed a postgraduate diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship. Awoniyi shared the news on X on Tuesday and described the achievement as a proud moment away from football.
“Another proud moment for me off the pitch,” Awoniyi wrote. He added that he was proud to graduate with merit and would continue learning while playing professional football.
The qualification adds to Awoniyi’s growing academic record. He earned a diploma in Business Administration and Marketing Management from the London School of International Business in 2020. He later completed a degree in Business Management at Buckinghamshire New University in 2022.
Awoniyi has also started a new chapter on the pitch. The 29-year-old joined newly promoted Premier League club Coventry City from Nottingham Forest in August. He spent four years at Forest and made 103 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing six assists.
The move reportedly cost around £9 million and gives Awoniyi another opportunity under manager Frank Lampard. However, his start at Coventry has been difficult. He received a red card during the club’s 5-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
The suspension will rule him out of Coventry’s Premier League clash with his former club Nottingham Forest. Despite the setback, Awoniyi continues to build his future away from the pitch.
His latest qualification could support a future career in football management or sports administration. For now, the Nigerian striker is combining his playing career with education as he prepares for life after professional football.
