Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have uncovered an illegal “baby factory” in Lagos, rescuing multiple victims and arresting two suspects.
According to preliminary reports, the operation led to the rescue of 18 pregnant women and 10 children who were being held at the facility under unlawful conditions.
The suspects are believed to be linked to a network involved in the trafficking and illegal sale of infants.
Authorities disclosed that the raid followed actionable intelligence, enabling operatives to locate and dismantle the operation.
The victims have since been taken into protective custody, where they are expected to receive medical attention and support services.
“Baby factories” are illicit operations where vulnerable women, often under coercion or deception, are held to deliver babies that are later sold or trafficked.
Such activities remain a persistent concern for law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
The NSCDC stated that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the syndicate and determine the full scope of the operation.
Officials also reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts against human trafficking and protecting vulnerable groups.
