Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has donated buses to five organisations and institutions in the state.
The beneficiaries include the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, and the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.
Others are the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Kaduna State University, KASU, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Governor Sani presented the buses to the beneficiaries in Kaduna on Tuesday.
According to the governor, the donation will help reduce transportation challenges faced by the organisations.
The Kaduna State Council of the NUJ received one of the buses.
NUJ Chairman, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, thanked Governor Sani for the gesture.
According to him, the union had requested a new bus from the state government about six months ago.
However, Alabelewe noted that the NUJ had not received a similar gesture from the state government for about 20 years.
He said the new bus would make it easier for journalists to travel to assignments across Kaduna State.
In addition, he assured the governor that the media would continue to hold the government accountable.
Kaduna State University also received a new bus from the state government.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Musa, described the donation as a major development for the institution.
He thanked Governor Sani for supporting the university.
According to him, the bus will help improve transportation for members of the university community.
As a result, the vehicle is expected to support the institution’s activities and programmes.
The Kaduna branch of the Nigerian Bar Association was another beneficiary of the donation.
NBA Chairman, Baba Lawal, appreciated the governor for providing the vehicle.
He said the bus would help the branch carry out its activities more effectively.
Similarly, the Kaduna State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Hassan Salihu, welcomed the donation.
He said the gesture would support medical workers as they carry out their duties.
The Nigerian Correctional Service also received a bus.
The Kaduna State Controller of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, received the vehicle on behalf of the service.
He explained that the bus would help transport inmates to courts, hospitals and other official locations.
Therefore, the vehicle is expected to support the service’s daily operations.
Governor Sani described the beneficiaries as important partners in the development of Kaduna State.
He said their contributions remain important to the growth of the state.
Meanwhile, the governor explained that the donation was part of efforts to support organisations facing transportation challenges.
In addition, he said the government would continue to support institutions that contribute to the development of Kaduna State.
The beneficiaries thanked the Kaduna State Government for the vehicles.
They said the buses would improve their operations and make it easier for them to serve the people of Kaduna State.
